Overcoming Your Challenges

Yesterday we talked about our challenges. I asked you to write down some of the challenges you are facing, big or small. Today we are going to really dig into them and see if their are ways to change something in our lifestyle, behaviors, thoughts, or attitude to “fix” the challenge or cope with it better.

First things first, you need to realize that whatever challenge or obstacle is in your life is not too big for you to handle. It might take some time, but you are capable of dealing with it. You can endure great things and this maybe your mountain. Get ready to climb.

While considering each of your challenges or obstacles in your life, I want you to really look at it each one, individually, from all angles. What is out of your control and what is in your control. Study and evaluate your options. Decide if there is some action you actually can take to improve your situation.

Is it as easy as talking to something about your problem? Asking your boss for a raise? Setting your alarm earlier to get your morning workout in? Are you the person that’s in your own way? Is social distancing during this pandemic making you stir crazy? We really need to focus on what can be done and then set goals that take us to where we want to go. Take away the excuses and figure out a way get to work.

Next, if you have decided there is a reasonable action step you can take to improve a challenging area of your life, you need to set an attainable goal. Something specific and with details about how you will get there. Commit to yourself that you will work towards this. No-one else is going to work for your goals and dreams, just you. Take charge of your life. It will be worth the effort once you start seeing the results.

Work your plan. Take the commitment you made to yourself seriously. You maybe uncomfortable, or tired, or unmotivated, but you have to do the work. If you want the change, you need to make it happen. Your challenges aren’t going go fix themselves. Follow through on your commitment to better your life. You’ve got this!
