Chocolate Chip Cookies

This is one of my mom’s cookie recipes.  To say these cookies were a central part of my childhood is an understatement.  I remember having these all the time as a little kid.  From teacher gifts, to volleyball tournaments, these cookies are so good they were brought everywhere.  There are even several stories about these cookies and my high school years.

One of the best cookies stories was one night when my now hubby and another friend were over at my house.  We had just gone out puddle jumping about a week before we were going to graduate high school.

When I say puddle jumping, I seriously mean we ran (not drove) around town as it had been raining sooo much that spring that there was mud and puddles everywhere.  The three of us ran around and found the biggest puddles we could and ended back to my house.

To top the night off, my mom got out of bed, and at like 10 pm listened to our very silly adventure and made us fresh cookies.

1 tsp. salt
1 pkg (12 oz.) semi-sweet chocolate chips

1. Mix together sugar, brown sugar, shortening, eggs, and vanilla with an electric mixer (or fork).
2. Add flour, baking soda, and salt.  Mix well.  Add chocolate chips and stir until well blended.
