I don’t know why I don’t make smoothies more often. They are great for any snack or meal. Besides being super tasty, they have the added bonus of being ubber healthy and quick to make. I used to make green smoothies almost daily and haven’t for quite some time. (I need to get back into that habbit). They are easy to take in the car, work, park, mall, zoo… etc. Just grab a thermos and you are set.
Sticking with my pretty-pink, pre-Valentine’s Day posts, I did not shove spinach or kale into the smoothie as then it would obviously be green. Feel free to add some to get the added nutrients and benefits. Or leave the recipe as is, and surprise your special someone on Valentine’s Day with one of these pretty-pink and delicious smoothies for breakfast.
1 cup frozen sliced strawberries
1 cup frozen pineapple
1/4 cup frozen cherries
1/4 cup frozen orange juice concentrate
3/4 cup cold water
(*you can substitute 1 cup orange juice for the water and orange juice concentrate)
Place all ingredients in blender and blend on high until smooth. Makes (2) 10-12 ounce servings.
Notes: I like using all frozen fruit (besides the banana) as it makes the smoothie cold without adding ice. I also keep frozen orange juice concentrate in my freezer just to use for smoothies. I don’t always have orange juice on-hand in our fridge, so I like to scoop out a little concentrate for the smoothie and stash the rest back in the freezer for the next time I make a smoothie.
